Strathisla

Strathisla Distillery, situated in the town of Keith, is one of the oldest operating distilleries in Scotland, with a history dating back to 1786. The distillery underwent several name changes before adopting the name Strathisla in the 1870s.

Strathisla is known for its picturesque distillery buildings, which include a distinctive twin pagoda roof and several traditional stone warehouses. Kirsty says: "Their pagodas must be the most recognised photo out of any distillery. It's on everything!" Vic adds: "It's a lovely old building, really small. I mean, it's not great inside because you bang your head going around the mashtun and it's all crammed in! But outside, they're beautiful buildings, beautiful grounds and of course, the twin pagodas... so iconic."

Ownership Changes
Strathisla has changed hands multiple times throughout its history. It was initially operated by George Taylor and Alexander Milne before being acquired by William Longmore in the early 19th century. It is currently owned by Chivas Brothers, a subsidiary of Pernod Ricard.

House Style & Core Range
Strathisla whiskies are known for their elegant and fruity character, with a smooth and approachable palate. Strathisla offers a core range of expressions including expressions such as Strathisla 12 Year Old, Strathisla 18 Year Old and Strathisla 25 Year Old, each offering a different perspective on the distillery's character and maturation.

Visitor Centre
Strathisla Distillery has a visitor centre that welcomes whisky enthusiasts. Visitors can take guided tours to learn about the whisky-making process, explore the historic distillery buildings and enjoy tastings of Strathisla whiskies. Vic says "I think the visitor centre is called the spiritual home of Chivas Regal. It's a wonderful place to go and visit."
